What's the weirdest kick-off time you remember?
In professional English football?

Liverpool/Leeds at 8pm tonight seems strange, but remember a while ago there was talk of 11am-ish kick-offs coming in.

According to google, Man City v Everton in 2005 kicked off at 11:15am on a Sunday, apparently for Chinese audiences.

Anyone remember any more? Any really late KOs? Any at like midday on a Tuesday etc.?

During Covid when no fans were allowed, weren’t some games played midweek in the afternoon?

I'm sure home to chelsea in 88 (4-1) was a morning kick-off, ditto home to Millwall a year later.

Us against Millwall when Winston scored - my terrible memory says that was 11:30 or so. But you can see the reasoning for that.

I remember being told exactly that, and maybe reading it on here, but googling didn't bring anything up.

Although not professional football, in the town where I live and probably lots of others, there was a Thursday afternoon league as it was half day closing as most people worked six days then.

Game in ‘91 vs Millwall was an early KO.

Midday maybe?

I think the FA Cup (replay?) game against Hereford in the 70s was at a never to be repeated kick-off time/date, but there and again I'm an old git with dementia so may well have got that one wrong.

When I was young I seem to remember that some of the games kicked off on a weekday afternoon and people had to go sick to attend, hoping they would not be filmed by Pathé News

Oxsaw, yes it was, it was during Ted Heath's 1973/4 three day week so played early and no floodlights

I'm sure you're right Cholo. I seem to remember being up really early for that Millwall match. Took my Dad there for his first game. It was the week after Hillsboro and we won 3-0, all scored in the first half.

See? I remember all that but try and remember what I did yesterday, well good luck with that!
